1. I can eliminate or reduce factors that deliver minimal values to customers and invest more resources in factors that add value. For my new venture, a casual game company which is specialized in designing casual mobile games, we may not focus on every aspect of our product because of our limited start-up capital. Therefore, just like Doodle Jump developed by Lima Sky, we would concentrate on improving ideas of our product but deprioritize some unnecessary visual effects.

2. I can raise factors that differentiate our products versus competitors’ and increase our competitive advantage. By raising these high-value factors, our products could exceed customer desires. For instance, Steins; Gate, a Japanese visual novel developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus, has no fancy visual effects but harvested demonstrated success by its extremely engaging plot. We could provide Developer Mode of our games to customers for giving them the maximum freedom of playing. For example, Minecraft, a sandbox game developed by Mojang, has started to do so by allowing players to replace mods by external software. However, learning how to use an external software to modify a game might still be difficult for players. Therefore, we could provide an easy version of Developer Mode to our customers for them to change maps, character’s costumes, or even plots, etc. By doing this, we offer an opportunity to players to create their “own” games.

4. By assessing potential customers’ needs, and figuring out whether there is a real problem that is worth to solve, I can provide evidence on if my proposed problem is significant. Based on data, there are almost 5 billion cell phone users in the world now, and a large proportion of them play mobile games during leisure time. However, most of them cannot spend much time on games because of their fast life paces. Therefore, people need games that do not take up much time to relax
