According to (Michael Miller, 2008) “When files are encrypted, no one can open them without first entering the proper password. Without password, the files are just gibberish”.
For this reason, SafetyLocker will provide an extra security by encrypting/ locking files in the Server, meaning only the owner can download those files. After downloading it might require a password to unlock the file, if the user chooses that option. Users also will have the flexibility to manage which files they want to lock or not. Again, SafetyLocker will provide an extra security by encrypting files and request a password to those files that are locked by the user. With these feature users are more protected from seeing their important files been hacked and leak on the internet.

According to James Salter, having data encrypted can be a good solution due to being hard to get access to files and could take ages to hackers to have access to that data. “While perimeter security solutions can make it more difficult to access the data from the outside, once the network is breached your data is only as safe as the data encryption you employ. With the right encryption solution, you can go through each day knowing that your data is safe and that there is no reasonable way in which hackers could potentially get their hands on the raw data. It would take a brute-force style program more than a lifetime to successfully decode all of the information.” (James Salter,
