1. A co-worker with a strong windows background is having difficulty understanding UNIX permissions. Describe UNIX file permission for him. Compare UNIX file permission to windows file permissions.
ANS: A UNIX system handle a lot of Users. Consumers are an abstraction that means a reasonable entity for task of ownership and operation privileges over the system. Consumers can be coordinated in associations. A user may belong to one or more associations of consumers. The idea of associations serves the purpose of assigning sets of rights for a given resource and distributing them among many consumers that need to have them. File access modes and permission in Unix. File ownership is a valuable fundamental of UNIX that supply a safe method for storing files. Every file in UNIX has the following attributes −
• Owner permissions: The holder‘s permissions determine what actions the holder of the file can do on the file.
• Group permissions: The group's permissions determine what actions a consumer, who is a member of the association that a file belongs to, can work on the file.
• Other (world) permissions: The permissions for others indicate what action all other consumers can perform on the file.

With Windows as the primary platform for business networks, their permissions are ideal for file depository and administration. UNIX, on the other hand, offers an effective permission structure for application and web servers, places where it holds its own market dominance. Over time the growth in two platforms, it’ll be interesting to look at how their permission architecture adapt to developing market
