The Nuremberg War Crime Trials, held from 1945 to 1949 were a series of 13 trials conducted by a French, United States and Soviet military. It was held in Nuremberg, a city in Germany and its purpose was to punish Nazi war criminals and restore peace in Germany and other parts of the world. Twenty-four formal Nazis were on trial, and half would be hanged to their death a year later.
The Nazi leaders were accused of waging war, doing crimes that threatens peace and humanity and genocide (killing a large group of people, mostly those of a particular ethnic or race). Most defendants responded to the trial by committing suicide. Hitler was an example of this act; he killed himself a few months before the trials started.
The United Nations Genocide Convention and The Geneva Convention on the Laws and Customs of war was created because of the trials. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights were also a result of the trials.

It made laws about human experiments. The first and most important law was nobody can be forced to participate in human experiments, the risks must be understood and agreed by the participant, and they have to give consent. There were also some other rules about running experiments. For example, participants can leave anytime during anytime of the experiment if they feel uncomfortable or if they changed their mind. Doctors of the experiment cannot continue the procedures if it would harm the participant. Lastly, no experiment can be conducted if there were more risks than benefits.
