O Connor Bike Path Case Study

The O’Connor bike path cut its red ribbon in October 2016 and six months later is still experiencing safety issues amongst the motorists and cyclists. O’Connor is a main artery to the Queensway located in the core of Centertown and has always been a one-way street. City planners opted for building a bidirectional bike path there instead of finding a less intense section of downtown. As the city develops more ways to promote ecologically friendly transportation, the government and community need to devise a system for cyclists that can protect them better from other traffic all the while having consequences if any regulations are violated.
