Before becoming president, Barack Obama said, “The American people are too often offered two extremes — government-run health care with higher taxes or letting the insurance companies operate without rules. … I believe both of these extremes are wrong.” After his election, Obama came up with The Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare; its main goal was to provide free health care for everyone in the U.S. Proponents believe that this has benefited the low income class because it provides them with affordable health care that they wouldn’t be able to receive otherwise. However, opponents like myself, are strongly against this because it affects our nation’s economy and consequently the low-income class.

It is proven that the low income class will be the one to suffer the most if the bill isn’t repealed. According to Tevi Troy, “Obamacare will probably limit full-time hiring for the foreseeable future.” (3). Obamacare gives off fines to employers who don’t have their employees insured or if these said employees happen to be unable to qualify. Since employers will have to pay a fine for each of those uninsured employees they will lose plenty of money. Most employers will resolve to layoffs, “In several cases, depending on the proportion of an employer’s workforce that comes from the low-income families, it would be more beneficial for employers to drop coverage altogether rather than to pay for thee increased penalty for employees… [t]his creates and incentive for employers to avoid hiring workers from low-income families, hurting those who need jobs the most.” (Nix 4). As Nix explains, our low income classes will suffer the most since they will struggle to find a job. This shows us how this bill will harm our community and the low income class the most. In conclusion, Obamacare will affect everyone directly or indirectly. Since our nation’s health care cost will rise, so will our national debt. However, the ones who will suffer the most will be the low income class since they will be fired from their jobs, and will also have a harder time finding jobs. This bill
