Morality: Natural or Supernatural After watching video debate between William Lane Craig and Sam Harris, there has been an ongoing conflict between the atheist and christians beliefs regarding to the foundation of morality in ethics. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, morality is defined as concerning acts and behavior among people to what is considered right or wrong. In the beginning of the debate, Dr Craig began his speech with a conditional statement, in which he assumes that “If God Exists, then we have sound foundation for objective moral values and duties” and moves on with providing the evidence to support his argument by explaining that theism grounds both objective moral values and duties with wholly independent human …show more content…
He believes that the notion of right and wrong comes from evolution and depends on individual’s minds, experience, and natural phenomena. for moral truth in the context of science. In order to prove his positions more effectively, he describes science as a value in business ethics while applying to the scientific values of understanding the world and logical consistency. To illustrate the content of morality in deeper understanding, Harris states that given all the circumstances relating to god, he states that it does not accomplish in lives of others and the care of human sufferings. From this point on, this arguer commits some major fallacies, mostly red herring, when he said that” there’s no good reason to believe that such a being exists. Look at the problem of evil and the problem of the unevangelized” to his opponents as it seems that Harris tries to divert the audience attention from the real problem regarding to the main argument topics of morality and making irrelevant statements about god.
