First off, Roosevelt had managed to overcome his many obstacles that he faced during this time of his life making him stronger and more aware. Even from a child he faced severe asthma and was advised not to spend too much time outdoors, however he fought the odds and spent a sizeable amount of time in his life being physically active and being outdoors.
