The poem “ode to pablo's tennis shoes” by Gary Soto is truly a great ode. For instance, Pablo Clearly adores his tennis shoes when comparing them to a lifeboat. The narrator says, “He loves his shoes,/ cloth like a sail,/ rubber like/ a lifeboat on a rough sea.”(35-38). This states that pablo loves that his shoes are different and warnen in but are perfect for him.
