The majority of people think a hero is a robust super-human in an exotic costume, or disguise, that is performing heroic deeds out of the goodness of their hearts, and conformity to virtuous conduct. However, very few of these attributes pertain to the archetype of the Ancient Greek world. Traits of heroes in Ancient Greece are cunning, loyalty, and influence from gods and fate. One hero, Odysseus, exhibits all of these traits. So, is Odysseus a hero? Yes, the man skilled in all ways of contending has unrivaled cunning, a plethoric extent of loyalty, and overwhelming influence from the gods.
