Odysseus was a horrible leader. He did not listen to his own men, and he did also did not think things through. In the epic poem “The Odyssey” by Homer, Odysseus and his men suffer and endure many hardships in which all the men die, except for Odysseus, who gets back home to Ithaca. To begin with, Odysseus was not a brilliant listener. In the episode “The Cyclops”, Odysseus admits that he “... would not heed [my men] in my glorying spirit…” (The Cyclops 500). This great, so-called “hero” did not pay his shipmates any attention, even though a good, decent leader gets feedback from his team and uses it to better their role as leader.
