Many traits are required in order for one to be a good leader. Odysseus, William and Mary possesses most of these traits. Odysseus, the main character of the book The Odyssey, and his men have a long, twenty year journey back home after fighting during the war in Troy . During their journey they face many struggles. He ends up returning home alone and must fight back for his honor. With William and Mary, the British monarchs for 38 years in 1689 after the Britain’s bloodless Glorious Revolution, William and Mary became joint sovereigns of Great Britain under Britain’s new Bill of Rights. Odysseus however show more qualities of being a good leader than William and Mary, Odysseus is loyal, intelligent and powerful, all the trait at which a good leader should possess.
Odysseus is loyal. William and Mary are also loyal, Mary in particular, she was loyal to her husband. The Parliament wanted the throne to be the sole possession of Mary, with William serving as Prince Consort. Mary however refused to accept the throne unless William ruled beside her. Even though Odysseus is powerful William and Mary were not. William and Mary weren't powerful because Parliament decided they should control the king and queen after the two monarchs before them were irresponsible with making decisions. Odysseus on the other hand was very powerful. He is so powerful that he killed one hundred men because wanted to take over. Odysseus told the men “You took my house to plunder, twisted my maids to serve your beds. You dared bid for my wife while I was still alive. Contempt was all you had for the god who rule wide heaven, contempt for what men say of you here after. Your last hour has come. You die in blood.” (Homer 22.267-272) explain counterclaim
