The skies were clear, the journey was easy, then pride took its strike. In the story “The Odyssey”, the hero's journey was nearing an end until Odysseus’ pride took over him. Pride often lays the path to ruin.
In “The Odyssey”, there are many examples of pride. The first time in Odysseus showed his pride was when he had fooled the cyclops with his trick about his name. “I was filled with laughter, to see like a charm the name deceived them.”(Homer 907). Before he had said this, he had told the cyclops his name was “Nohbdy” so that when the cyclops called for help the others would think that nobody had harmed him.
