Dreams and loneliness are two main ideas that are constantly shown in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. It is a book about two itinerant farm laborers, George and Lennie, that think they found the perfect ranch, until Lennie, the large man with a mind of a child, finds a way to ruin the opportunity. Dreams and loneliness are two big ideas developed in Of Mice and Men.

Dreams seem realistic, but they eventually fade into unreachable goals. For example, probably the most recurring dream was the one of George and Lennie where they would, “Live off the fatta the lan’” (Steinbeck 14). Lennie thought that they would actually have a farm with rabbits, even though George knew it would never happen. Their dream became infectious and Crooks wanted
