In the book, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Lennie smalls is one of two main characters. The other Character is George Milton. George and Lennie are two workers who can’t hold a job. They are opposites in almost every trait. Lennie is big and muscular, George is less strong and more slim. Lennie is quite dumb and childish while George is more bright. Lennie’s helplessness and childishness make him a very likable and sympathetic character.
His first trait that makes him very sympathetic is his helplessness. We know this because of how others feel about him. George often refers to him as a “poor bastard.” Also, when George was telling Lennie to leave Curley’s wife alone, we stated that “I never meant no harm, George. Honest I never.”
