Lennie and George make very good friends. In the short novel written by John Steinbeck, “Of Mice And Men”, these two characters have a unique relationship. George Milton, who is thin and quick, and Lennie Small, who is large and childlike, are migrant workers who travel together trying to achieve their shared goal of co-owning an acre of land with a small shack to live in during the 1930’s Great Depression. Throughout the book, the unlikely pair display the quality of their relationship within their conversations. At the very end of chapter one, George and Lennie are eating beans for dinner by the fire. Steinbeck demonstrated their friendship in this exchange:
