In the short novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, the relationships between Candy and his dog, and George and Lennie are similar. The first similarity between the relationships of Candy and his dog, and George and Lennie is their role. Candy takes care of his old dog like George takes good care of Lennie. The next similarity is how the relationships are defended. Candy does his best to defend his dog against Carlson like George does his best to explain to Slim that Lennie does not mean any harm in his actions. Another similarity between the two relationships is how the dog and Lennie do not mean any harm. The dog lives on as an old dog that has many problems but does not mean harm like Lennie does not mean harm in the accidental deaths
