Slavery has been in America since the Europeans first came to America. The trip that the slaves took on the ship was often brutal and deadly. Equiano was such a slave in the beginning of American History. Equiano’s narrative demonstrates the intensity of the travel from home to America. In the story ‘‘The Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano’’ he shows the reader through symbols, how hard it was for him on the way over to America,. In the quote “These filled me with astonishment, which was converted into terror,when I was carried on board.” Diction is being symbolized.
