“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” (Reeve online). When we think of heroes we often think of iconic leaders who have been noticed for generations. But the best types of heroes are the ones who don't want recognition. A hero is a common, everyday person who makes the world better going unnoticed.

As stated previously true heroes go undefined. Author of Where I find my heroes, Oliver Stone states, “And that, ironically, is heroism: not to be recognized” (Stone 64). I could not agree more with Stone, heroes are the ones who don’t want recognition for the good they’ve done. “Doing the right thing even though it is not the popular thing to do”(engr_tam online). Actions made by heroes don't always have to be life risking, these actions can be as small scale as encouraging your friend to go to school or confronting them in times of trouble. In Springboard Stone’s text states, “The kid who stands alone instead of joining a gang, which would give him instant identity”(Stone 64). Little things like this is what makes heroes,heroes. These are the functions heroes take in the world, making lives of others better.

Some people have very wrong, misunderstandings on who heroes are. “ You are not a hero if you are not willing to speak out and stand up for what is right”(Watson Online). As the citation explains a hero is not someone who won't stand up for what's right. A hero is not one who is self centered. The text goes on to say, “ A hero cannot be a coward!”(Watson Online). A hero is never cruel, mean or evil. Heroes always think if others before themselves. In a summary, heroes are not a lot of things so we should remember what truly makes a
