Journal #1 The Omnivore’s Dilemma: Intro, Ch. 1-4 When first reading this book, I realized that I can relate to what Michael Pollan was saying. I too did not really worry about where all this food that I was consuming came from. Now, going into this book made me think more about where all this food was coming from and it was really interesting because I had no clue and now I became more curious into finding out. I never knew that there was an omnivore’s dilemma before, but know I agree that many people have no idea where their food comes from or maybe they are even scared to find out which is why they avoid that issue. However, knowing where our food is grown and cultivated can be a good thing because we can appreciate it more and having people like Pollan looking into this situation and researching helps us even more.
Knowing now that corn or maize, as other people say it, is basically in everything that we eat is mind blowing because it gives people a new perspective on the food they are putting into their bodies. Even the meats that people eat contain corn in some way because the animals before may have eaten corn to I guess Pollan was right, everything we eat comes from corn. When Pollan was taking about how

This really bums be out because people work hard for their jobs and I think that is why farmers are disappearing and also because of the many new genetically modified seeds. Like in class lecture, learning that back then there was a 90% of farmers in the U.S. but know there is like a 2% of farmers which is really sad because GMOs are taking over and also farming is becoming not a big deal anymore. Which is why agriculture is important because provides us with food which makes our population
