Subject: I based my personal essay on Joan Didion’s ”On Keeping a Notebook”. This was one of her most personal essays, as this one is a very personal one for me. In her essay she uses very random memories to describe her deeper thoughts on a topic and walked the reader through her discovery of herself. My essay mimicked this style. I start off very sarcastic talking about the scary teenage monster and then go into the struggles of this awkward time and how we can never escape our insecurities because we create them for ourselves as my concluding epiphany moment.
