In life you should be yourself. By being yourself, you are true to who you are. Todd Strasser wrote a short story “On the Bridge” which is about a boy named Seth who struggles on being himself. He chooses to follow his friend, Adams path that leads to trouble. Strasser used alliteration, imagery, symbolism, and hyperbole to capture how betrayal can ruin trust so choose friends wisely and trying to be someone else doesn't express our true identity.

In “On the Bridge”, Strasser uses alliteration and imagery to help focus on the idea of betrayal. The author uses alliteration to help see how betrayal could ruin trust. Strasser writes “ With the husky guys weight on him he could hardly breath. The car fender was digging into his ribs, Where was Adam?”(6). In Body paragraph one, Strasser uses alliteration and imagery. The alliteration was used to focus on Adam's betrayal and imagery was used to paint a picture using the alliteration. In body paragraph two, Strasser also uses symbolism and hyperbole. The symbolism was used to emphasise the jacket to a new life because he threw it away into the trash can and hyperbole was used as the jacket was exaggerated into a more bad reputation yet he threw it all away. In general friends are friends and should stay together unless it wasn't meant to be. A friend should never betray one another as it affects the trust in their friendship. A key to friendship is trust so people should make trustworthy friends. Also people shouldn't be someone who they are not since it does not show their inner self. It is important to realize who one is because inner beauty makes a person true to
