Oprah Winfrey is a great example of enlightened person in our time period. For a person to be enlightened they should be educated, experienced, awakened and wise. Oprah Winfrey childhood was far from easy. 6-year-old Winfrey was sent to live with her mother in a Milwaukee boarding house, where she would not only grow up around extreme poverty, but also endure years of sexual and physical abuse. She was raped for the first time at age 9 by her 19-year-old cousin, this wouldn't be the only time she was sexually abused, she would then be sexually abused by her cousin, a family friend, her mother's boyfriend, and her uncle during her stay in Milwaukee. She was pregnant by the age of 14. . But she kept working at other gigs until she was able to have own show. When Oprah started her show not many people was happy she started already tackling controversial topics. She was also not afraid to let her voice. I strongly believe that Oprah is enlightened considering she went thru so much in her life but she came out of the cave she was in and ended up educated and awakened. You can learn a lot from Oprah for example she ended up overcoming abuse and she help continues to help women who went thru what she experienced. She a humanist she is empathetic and caring, she really knows how to connect with your pain. There are characteristics that are associated with being enlightened. Oprah isn’t perfect but she is a person to aspire to be, she has taken life like a bull by the horns and has carved out a place for herself in history. We all have some cave that’s we trying to escape from but if we keep pushing we will end up seeing the daylight and not allowing the puppeteers to keep us in shackles. The first step for me become enlightened is that I need to learn to accept there is no escape from reality and the actions I take decided what my future
