While facing challenges and new learning experiences, optimism can be essential and very supportive. When a person is focused on everything that is wrong, optimism can help redirect a person’s views to realize the bigger picture, the good and the bad. A positive outlook on situations, optimism, associated with realism can be extremely powerful. Together, they help prevent extremes of either one; too optimistic to the point of denial and delusion, and too realistic to have the capability of dreaming of more, resulting in neither a full optimist nor a full pessimist. Though some cases do exist. Coping with bad situations is difficult for everyone, but most people, when comforted, hear the phrase, “It’ll be okay.” This phrase leads people to believe that somehow, whatever they are having troubles with, will turn out for the better, which leads them to not act upon their difficulties.
