In conclusion nick carraway is the narrator who takes us along through the journey of The GReat Gatsby. As we read , we can see how from the very beginning of the book to the end of the book that Nick’s opinions and judgements slowly changes. Although originally he had stated that he was taught to keep judgements to himself, after meeting Gatsby he slowly discarded that. Being able understand everything because of Nick we realize that the novel suggests that optimism is good but can be an ineffective characteristic, money can’t buy you love and friends, and that it is difficult to leave your past behind you. Nick does not see these different things by himself but due to the existence of Gatsby. The “I” of the novel which Nick uses becomes ourselves,
