Organ Donor: Who Is A Hero?

What is a hero? Is it someone you look up to? Who can be defined as a hero? Well, according to Merriam Webster dictionary, hero, is defined as "a person admired for achievements and noble qualities or one who shows great courage." Though, there are so many people that could be defined as hero's. Take organ donors for example, and here's why.
Organ donation is described as "taking healthy organs and tissues from one person for transplantation into another" (infobase). The organ donors are usually deceased but some donations can still be made when you're alive. "Experts say that the organs from one donor can save or help as many as 50 people" (infobase). Being an organ donor makes a huge difference in saving lives and making the world a better place. Organ donation is free which means, it costs nothing to be a hero!
Organ donation may be free but, not everyone chooses to say yes. This is a problem because it causes a organ shortage. Due to the shortage thousands of people die a year because they are not able to get the organs they need. "Seven people a day are now dying while waiting for one [transplant] ... Don't let this scare you into not being one because, "Several factors were associated with consent for organ donation: characteristics of the patient and the patient's family, beliefs and attitudes about organ donation and transplantation, whether the family knew the deceased's wishes about donation, the family's satisfaction with the hospital care that their relative received, specific aspects of the donation-request process, and the family's understanding of brain death" (Library of medicine).
