Orson Welles was a highly influential person in many different forms of entertainment and a very important person in many people’s lives. He is the man behind many cinematic wonders, such as Citizen Kane. This big man started small though, with his parents having a tough breakup when he was a young boy. He ended up in the middle of a fight for his custody between his father and a good friend of his mother’s after the early death of his mother due to hepatitis. The two men made a compromise and sent him to a boarding school. After school, he became a prominent actor on Broadway very soon, working his way up the ladder and having his own play group and radio show. When Welles was young, his mother died of hepatitis, leaving Orson in the midst of a battle for his custody by the two men in he life, "Dada" Bernstein and his father Dick Welles. The only consensus they could come to was to send him to boarding school and let him choose who he wants to be with after. He was sent to a boarding school called Todd. At this school he learns much of what he knows about the art of a play. This is where he got many of his important skills in life and also where he met a very important man in his life, Roger Hill.
Roger Hill was an influential person to Welles for many reasons. He was a key figure at Todd, and had an eye for Welles, thinking he had a lot of talent. This helped Orson get what he wanted and the skills he needed for his future career as an actor. Also, Roger invited him to a party after his time at Todd, and at this party Orson meets someone who introduces him to Katharine Cornell, the first person to sign Orson on any kind of acting contract. Overall, Roger Hill was a very important man to Orson and really helped him by shaping his
