Even at a very young age, I have always wondered what exactly I wanted to do as a career choice. Just as every other kid, growing up I had always dreamed of becoming a professional athlete one day. However, during my 8th grade year of middle school that all changed. From the first moment I saw an orthodontist working on one of his patient's teeth, I was hooked.
I have always been the kind of person that loved being hands on with thing and also helping people while I do it. Working towards and becoming an orthodontist is my main goal coming out of high school and I hope to be able to achieve it. Even though the pay check for this profession, averaging $135,184, is quite nice, my main reason for wanting to be an orthodontist is the ability to help others and to see that smile of thankfulness on their faces afterwards. Some may find the long years in school a burden but I see it as an opportunity to spend more time learning about something I love. Another thing that greatly influenced my choice of wanting to become an orthodontist is the relationships and interactions with your patients. When I was younger, I always had very messed up teeth and I hated them. I was very insecure about them to the point that I wouldn't talk as much so that people wouldn't be able to see my teeth. My teeth eventually shifted into the normal position but I always remember how bad it made me feel having such bad teeth. I want to be able to help kids not go through the insecurity that I had to go through as a child. Being able to impact and help someone that is going through what I once went through means everything to me. I hope one day I can have that kind of impact on someone in my future experiences in this career
