Oskar Schindler was a hero during the Holocaust in the 1940’s. He showed that even in the darkest of times, people can have a change of heart, and step into the light; doing whatever they can in order to help the people in need. Some believe that he was a cheap industrialist who wanted to profit from the war. But, Oskar Schindler was a bold, clever, and determined individual, who cared about the lives of the Jews. Schindler was a bold man who did not cower in the face of danger. For example, he used to bribe German guards in his factory, into letting him take care of his workers, knowing the risks if he ever got reported (Steinhouse). Taking risks like these were huge, because if the Germans ever found out, he would be considered a traitor, and executed on the spot. He did not fear the Germans, as long as his workers were sick, or malnourished; he would do anything to help them regain their security. In …show more content…
Believing that he was like all the other industrialists, and just wanted to become wealthy, as fast as possible (Steinhouse). While this may be the case when Schindler came to Poland; he changed his prespective about the Jews during the raid in Cracow, and felt obliged from them on, to do whatever he could to help (Oskar Schindler JVL). Secondly, challengers of Schindler refute that he was a Nazi member, and helped supply the regime with war essentials. Therefore, by supplying the evil regime, Schindler would also be determined an accomplice to the sinsiter organization (Oskar Schindler JVL). Even though this is partially true, Schindler had no other options to help the Jews working in his factory. Operating the factory was the only choice he had to keep them safe from the death camps (Oskar Schindler JVL). Oskar Schindler had flaws and made mistakes in life, but this does not mean that all his heroic sacrifices should ever be looked down
