Shakespeare's Othello is a story of betrayal, jealousy, and revenge. The adversary, Iago, is known to be one of Shakespeare's most evil characters. Several critics claim Lago lacks a clear rationalized motive for his behavior. Without clear motives any act of evil would be the assumption of evil enclosed within the character himself. To such a degree, Lagos character is looked as demonic instead of human. Nonetheless, the actions of Lago are of clear motives. At the beginning of the play Lago introduces himself as someone who is prone to jealousy. This doesn’t exemplify demonic evil, but a human who commits evil acts from being pushed past his limits.
Othello is aware that Lago is only human. Right before Othello stabs Lago he states, “I look
