After being trapped under ice for decades, Ötzi the Iceman was found on the Ötztal Alps. At first he was believed to be a normal hiker but after an archaeologist saw his axe he was identified as a body from the copper age. After evaluation of the body it has been determined that Ötzi was murdered. When examining the body scientists found a hole in his back leading to an arrow. There are many theories about why the iceman was killed, but the theory about him getting killed for power makes the most sense. Ötzi the iceman was found with a copper axe. Copper wasn’t believed to be used at the time Ötzi was alive, in fact scientists believed that copper was used roughly twenty-thousand years after Ötzi’s time. The axe wouldn’t have been a cheap item at that time. Most people believe the axe shows that Ötzi had power in his tribe. It could have been a possibility that someone wanted him to no longer be in power. They also could have left the axe at the grave so they weren’t associated with the murder meaning they were probably going to end up receiving the power when Ötzi died …show more content…
This theory makes more sense than the theory about Ötzi being a shaman but it still isn’t the best theory. Most people would argue that the cuts on Ötzi’s arm and hand would help this theory but others say it doesn’t help the theory. It shows that Ötzi was in combat with someone but doesn’t actually show that he was in a war with another tribe. The killer could have attacked him earlier were Ötzi could have defended himself. Most people would also argue that Ötzi went up the mountains and then back down, then back up again. The power theory also has an explanation for that. Ötzi could have went up in the mountains for his job or hunting and then came back down where he met his attacker the first time with a knife and other weapons forcing Ötzi to go back into the mountain where Ötzi’s killer finally killed him with an
