The Slowing of Artificial Intelligence Ask Siri any question and instantaneously an answer comes. This is Artificial Intelligence. Right now these machines seem pleasant and convenient, but as they gain influence in society, it won’t take long for the artificially intelligent machines to get out of control. Because of the potential dangers of A.I., artificial intelligence, its research and development should be slowed or stopped. These complex creatures have the ability to outsmart the most brilliant human minds. English theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking, said, “…it might be wise to contemplate now we might control the uncontrollable…” We cannot control these machines after they’re built because they are far too intelligent. “We humans steer the future not because we’re the strongest beings on the planet, or the fastest, but because we’re the smartest.” Said James Barrat, author of “Our Final Invention, “So when there is something smarter than us on the planet, it will over rule us on the planet.” If we create a being “brighter” than ourselves, we wouldn’t be anything more than a common animal left to the mercy of those superior. …show more content…
In A.I. machines morality is absent. It’s impossible to implant morality in a robots mind, it is something you learn. Bonnie Dotchery, a lecture on law at Harvard University and a senior researcher at Humans Right Watch, says, “…machines that lack morality and morally should not be given the power to kill.” A monster that was never actually born should not have the authority to go to the battle field and fight a human’s battle. British inventor Clive Sinclair said, “Once you start to make machines that are rivaling and surpassing humans with intelligence, it’s going to be very difficult for us to survive. It’s just an inevitability.” We cannot be sure that these A.I. machines will not turn on us and
