She should have tried to find agencies that could help Faith since the worker and the shelter were obviously overwhelmed.

The director’s position is also understandable, because of funding for the shelter Faith’s case could’ve jeopardized other women living in the shelter. Part of the program is to attend meetings and counseling and Faith clearly stopped caring about her process. This as well could’ve impacted other individuals staying at the shelter. Since she was a part of group therapy as well, this behavior could’ve impacted the other members of the group.

The time the worker spend on Faith’s case apart from the regular scheduled time could’ve been spend on other women at the shelter that might have had to compromise because of the amount of Faiths case load.

In the code of ethics, it states that social worker’s primary responsibility is to promote the well-being of clients, which I believe the worker at the shelter did. I also believe that the social worker wasn’t competent enough to deal with such a big and difficult case. Faith should’ve been referred to a different agency that could’ve assisted her better (NASW,
