I believe that is how we react when the lights are on, but how we react when the lights are off with the world against us. When the going gets tough are you going to get going? Are you going to lie down and say “I’m not good enough” or stand up to the challenge? You face challenges everyday, but what challenge has really enabled you to emerge into your fullest potential? Are you going to be pushed so close to the edge that you elicit talents you didn’t know you were capable? It is in adversity that you can become improve and strengthen yourself. Michael Jordan may never have been as good if he wasn’t faced with the adversity of making JV instead of varsity basketball as a sophomore in highschool. He could have cried about the decision, however he used it to motivate him and strengthen him to become better the next year. In that year he grew six inches and became more skilled in every category, eventually going on to become one of the greatest players ever. There is a saying, “Minor setback for a major comeback,” that I can also relate to. I was faced with adversity in 8th grade when I broke my arm playing football. It was a motivating experience that I used to come back better, stronger and faster than I had ever been.
