The united states constitution overcome the weaknesses of the articles of confederation and provide for the organization of the new government. Now for a little background information, In the 1780s the united states created their first form of government after the U.S. won the revolutionary war against the british. My first key point is about the articles of confederation. The articles of confederation was adopted in 1777, and was ratified the articles of confederation gave all different types of freedom to the country. The first point about the constitutional convention is about how the states will be represented in the legislature.Each state only gets to submit one vote to the legislature. This one vote only rule satisfied the people who wanted the new jersey plan. It also satisfied people who wanted the virginia plan to happen. My next point about the constitutional convention is about the debate over if only a small group of people should vote or just a small group. People would vote for representatives to represent them in congress. The number of electors per state is equal to combined number of representatives. The small group of electors would usually decide by popular vote, but did not have to. The final point about the constitutional convention is about how slaves should be counted for representation. To make it more fair for the slaves they created the three fifths compromise.The three fifths compromise was that slaves only counted as three fifths of a free person.
