Picasso’s assortment design elements come together to create a powerful effect of anxiety. He chose a stark monochromatic palette of black-white-gray palette to paint Guernica to underline desolation. The black and white stark contrasts ungulate across the painting surface that creates dramatic visual of frenetic action. While, the hard-edged lines and the angular shapes, signature of Cubism, are worked to express terror and confusion. In addition, Picasso depicted the main figures in harsh distorted forms suggest violence. In the far left, a women with her head bent backwards, screaming towards the sky in agony and grief, devastatingly embraces her lifeless child.
