1. The stores always try to lure the consumers by using the scientific methods. Americans are likely to keep to the right when they walk around. Because of this tendency, fast-food restaurants are usually located on their left, and gift shops are located on the right at a well-designed airport. People do cross the wall of people when they are hungry, however, people do not cross the wall of people to buy the gifts. One of the important factor is the speed of walking. Paco Underhill, who is an urban geographer, was thinking about the connection between walking speed and traffic lights all the time. People who walk slowly have more chance to notice the visual cues than the people who walk faster, and those people who walk faster need more time to slow down. The Whyte’s studies and works help people to understand what the new humility is. Paco Underhill declared his readers to “One of the best ways to understand the new humility in shopping theory is to go back to the work of William Whyte.” Therefore, what Whyte says, writes, or thinks are directly connected to understanding of the humility.

4. We should not be afraid of Paco Underhill for two reasons. Firstly, his studies and works are very useful for everyone because store can make their store more comfortable. According to their effort, consumers can walk around and buy the products easily. Secondly, to analyze the information which are about the behavior of consumers is a big business nowadays. Paco Underhill declared, “The practice of prying into minds and habits of American consumers is now a billion-dollar business.” By involving in this business, tons of people are able to earn money to live, therefore, he should be respected.
