The Paleolithic Era also known as the Stone Age was the time of early hominids (early human primate ancestors). The lifestyle of this era was hunting and gathering as well as foraging (basically living off of the product of the land). The diet consisted of a lot of mammoth as well as other animals, and to go with it they picked berries and roots. Early simple weapons that were invented during the Paleolithic Era including stones and clubs, but they also invented the bow and arrow, axes, and knives which were meant for hunting but can be used as a weapon. They eventually used fire as a tool to help them survive by protecting them from the cold and predators. It also aided the hominids in hunting as well as foraging. Chiefs were in place to keep their tribe together, and carry out their duties for example hunting and gathering. Other roles with a lot of respect were the magical roles filled by hominids that supposedly had some sort of mystic powers because they were believed that they could change the outcome of certain events. The people believed that the witchdoctors and shamans could potentially tip the tides in their favor when encountering an issue. The hominids would participate in multiple dances that hopefully would help them in their endeavors. A very popular belief was in animism (the belief that everything and everybody has a soul). Furthermore you can see that human’s early ancestors were religious. We can recently see some signs of oral language because symbolic language is nearly impossible to have without speech. Other bursts of thinking were when art was created.
