Named after one of its oldest settlements, Palm Beach, the county was established in 1909, after being split from Dade County. The county's modern-day boundaries were established in 1963. Based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s data, the county has a total area of 1,969.76 square miles. The U.S. Census Bureau, estimated the Palm Beach County population in 2014 as being 1,397,710 which is an estimated 5.9% change from the year 2010 which was 1,320,134 being the third most populated county in all of the great state of Florida. In Palm Beach County, there is an estimated population of 20.7% Hispanic or Latino descendants in the year 2014. Since the year 2004 Palm Beach County is the wealthiest county in all of Florida, having a per capita personal income of $44,518.
