Have you ever seen a person begging for money while you’re making your way down a street. Chances are that you have because today in our economy tons of people either have lots of money or not enough to support themselves. I believe giving money to panhandlers is not a good way to help the poor. Many people however don't agree. One powerful person who thinks we should give some money is Pope Francis. He says “Give them the money and don’t worry about it”. He are some reasons why I do not believe with Pope Francis’s point about giving panhandlers money to support them.
To begin, citizens should be able to do whatever they want with their money. When panhandlers are begging for money it makes people feel uncomfortable and gives the person with the money and feeling that they are obligated to give it up. Here is what they said, “ giving money to panhandlers makes us feel good, even if the beggar just ends up using your money on drugs and alcohol. These people just haven't had the luck that we had in life.¨ This does show us one side that someone believes and I can agree that what is said is true. One more piece of information that I found from debate.com was, ¨You never know, you could find yourself in a similar situation¨. This type of thing could happen to everyone and every penny someone gives to you could help if you were that desperate.
