This toolbox covers the national issue of delivering medicine to United States. In my opinion, health care here, in the U.S, is a paradox. We have the most expensive, technologically advanced medicine in the world, yet even the most basic medicine is almost always not affordable.
Looking at the national budget, most money is spent on Medicare and Medicaid but I believe a lot of that money is being wasted. So many companies copy the same drug with the same chemicals needed to produce it- just to gain profit, and believe me, they make so much money off it. Relating to my own personal experience, just yesterday I went to visit my grandma at the hospital, and she told me her prescription costs $600. At first, I thought she was lying to me. Doesn’t the government want to help as many people as they can? There is broad evidence that Americans often do not get the care they need even though the United States government spends more money per person on health care than any other nation in the world. Speaking of other nations, I have lived in Ireland for eight years and as long as I remember, the medicine is affordable for all, not just the wealthy. Of course, there are social welfare programs that help, but even with that, medicine does not cost as much as it does in the U.S. I’d like to see every citizen of the United States guaranteed basic health care at reasonable prices. We claim to be advanced, enlightened, the “best” country in the world, and yet our citizens often go without medical care because they can’t afford it- or can’t afford the health insurance.
