Intro to parent and child relationship
Chapter 13 Adolescent Parents The main idea of this chapter is adolescent parenting. Three concepts I think are important are contributing causes of teen pregnancy, short term and long term affects on having a child, and the supports for adolescent parents. The reason why I thought the causes of teen pregnancy was important was because it's important to understand why these women are getting pregnant. The females who are most likely to get pregnant are the ones with serious emotional problems or negative self image, and to prove oneself as an adult. If we target these women and show them the negatives of having a child at such a young age. We can maybe prevent them from starting families at a young age. I also thought the short term and long term regarding parenting for young parents is very important in this chapter because it effects education, marriage, health concerns for the teen mom, economic consequences, and parent child relationships are affected as well. When having a child as a young adult sets both parents back from there hopes and dreams such as going for higher education, marrying the right person, sets the new parents financially back in many way with low I come jobs and lack of education. It can also affect the parents understanding of the child's needs such as physical and emotional.the new parents also spend less time with their child because they are trying to be financially
