This journal discusses the importance of relationship between parent and neonate. A neonate is a premature baby meaning the infant was born early and must be put into the neonatal intensive care unit for a chance of survival. The relationship and decision making for the neonate has been ultimately altered and could have impacts on the infant's life years to come. In recently collected data the infant stay in the NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit) has increased 12.1% in the United States. This is detrimental for the families because majority of the times the infants are under extreme conditions in which it is hard to hold the infant.
