Parrot in the oven by victor Martinez is about a boy named Manny and how he grows up at the beginning of the book Manny is a “parrot in the oven” this is a metaphor about a parrot complaining about heat in the shade when he is really standing in a oven. This metaphor is used to describe someone that is ignorant .
