Should everyone who participates in a sport receive a trophy? According to the "Trophies for All" policy youth athletes are being awarded with participation trophies. When everyone receives a trophy, the awards lose their value. The participation trophies teach kids that rewards can come free, but if this happens, then when kids grow up, they might think everything comes for free. Trophies are a waste of money for the coaches. You must work in real life, so why should you earn a trophy in sports for not working. On the other hand, some parents and athletes think that participation trophies are confidence boosters. Participation trophies are unnecessary. Coaches should only spend their money to reward the best players, or on more equipment." Although many parents and coaches disagree with the idea of participation trophies, there are some with the opposite opinion, that must be persuaded to change their mind. If participation trophies lose their meaning, then why not just reward the players with a pamphlet and reward the players who worked hard for their trophies? If coaches are spending money on trophies, why not spend it on equipment? The athletes should be excited just to participate in a sport. Young athletes deserve an award, but it shouldn’t be as big as a trophy that might lose its meaning. Participation trophies are unnecessary. Trophies lose their meaning if they are given to everyone on a team. Trophies are a waste of money and put some stress on the coaches.
