Overall, I had a great shift at the Brookville general Hospital. My day started as usual with morning report which help to give a brief idea about the current condition of my assigned patient. My assigned patient had a right knee replacement and as usual, I started by taking her vital signs as well as a complete physical assessment from head to toe. I also helped my patient to use a bedpan. Moreover, I had to use accucheck to monitor my patient blood glucose, especially since my assigned patient was diabetic. Furthermore, I administered morning medication to my patient, including narcotic drug which was Hydromorphone to relieve her pain. Practicing the injection of drug into a mini bad during the post conference also helped me a lot. In addition, I assisted my patient with a complete bed bath and then make sure she is comfortable after that I was able to change her wound dressing while the co assigned nurse observe. With the help of a co assigned nurse, I was able to transfer my patient to the chair, especially since it was her first time to get up from bed after the knee replacement surgery. I also got the opportunity to watch the physiotherapist perform some exercise to my assigned patient to speed her recovery as well as teaching her some exercise she can do by herself when she discharges from the hospital. These exercises included moving her affected side, up and down while she was lying on the bed. Moreover, I had to recheck my patient blood glucose. And near the end of my shift, I was able to observe the co assigned nurse performing bladder scan to my patient after she complained of her urge to void. I had an interesting day full of experience. Next week I will be going to the maternity unit and I am looking to get new experience from
