Stelter uses known phrases in his article. He uses the common phrases to collect our attention and to almost win our approval. These known political slogans helped not only shape his article but, they had a massive impact on the shaping of our country, our government, and our thinking. One of the most known, and impactful slogans is Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty, or give me death.” Patrick Henry was a lawyer in the time of pre revolutionary America. He and his wife Sarah were strong believers in America coming together, fighting to be treated as they deserved. He spoke out freely about political manners regardless of what consequences could follow. Patrick Henry was in a meeting full of delegates speaking of the problems, fears, and unfairity of matters concerning britain. They were discussion the compromises for Virginia. They were compromising, settling and being push overs all around. Not standing up for justice, truth, or liberty. Patrick henry stood completely fired up with what his fellow officials were discussing and began his speech. He recedes on what they had all been saying. He speaks of Britain's lack of hope of reconciliation their lack of effort put forth to fix things between the us and Britain. He goes on to talk about how britain was not only not trying but they were shaming the try for reconciliation we had. He then takes a big step.
