The myth of Paul Revere riding a horse in the middle of the night from April 18 to 19, 1775, shouting "The British are coming!" made him one of the most famous people in the American history (Alexander). Paul Revere rode on his horse from Boston to Massachusetts to alert the citizens of the invading British forces.
However, the truth is; Paul Revere rode on the horseback to notify the people that the British troops were approaching but he did not accomplish the mission alone. Two other men namely; William Dawes accompanied by Samuel Prescott took different routes and met Revere later in the night of April 18 (Alexander; Gresko).
