Majority of the scholars of New Testament argue that several books, especially the six canonical letters written by Paul, are pseudonymous. They base their argument on the claim that pseudonymity had begun during early Christianity and Hellenistic Judaism (Harris, 2014). Such scholars further assert that unknown Christians, who adopted a literary convention of writing that was Jewish, produced the books under an identity which they had assumed. As such, they questioned the authenticity of Pauline letters. The possibility that Paul did not author some of the canonical letters like Colossians, 2nd Corinthians, and Ephesians does not change my view about them.
