Peaceful resistance or civil disobedience are very interesting topics to discover and explore. This isn't new either. It all started with Gandhi back in the 1800s. Then closer to the present time, there is Martin Luther King Jr. who incorporated Gandhi's use of peaceful resistance in his fight for civil rights. And even today it is still used. When it was announced that Donald Trump would be the next president following President Obama, people who were angry about the results, used the method of peaceful resistance. Overall, I believe that peaceful resistance is a positive attribute for Americans to maintain in our free society.

Gandhi was a man who used peaceful resistance. In 1893, Gandhi arrived in Natal to study law. But he soon realized that they discriminated and had a lot of racial prejudices. Politics is one example of present day peaceful resistance. With the election being so hot this year, there are so many emotions. People or either afraid for their lives, or full of hope for change in our country. The side that was not happy about president-elect Donald Trump were not happy when it was announced that he will be taking president Obama's place in office. They decided to sit in the middle of high ways with signs that said, "Not my President" This was a peaceful resistance. They were resisting against Mr. Trump being the president. The United States does give them the right to do that. No matter what side of politics a person is on, they still have the right to that. It was not violent, therefore peaceful.
